The success of a health project is most often determined by how well a project was planned during its inception. Project planning is one of the fundamental steps involved in any health programme. Anyone in charge of managing aspects of a health initiative find that they must tackle key elements concerning the project such as identifying project stakeholders, establishing a timeline for activities, determining the core objectives, and drafting a budget. Great care and attention must be paid during this crucial stage of a health project to ensure that activities run smoothly and stay on track.
Fortunately, good project management skills can be learned, and anyone can become an adept project manager that leads a health programme, whether large or small, to meeting its goals. This six-day course will expose participants to a rich, cross-functional environment for exchanging experiences with others working in national and international health programmes.
The training uses a variety of methods based on action learning principles such as group work, peer support, and case studies. This is complimented by presentations on relevant theoretical framework and emerging trends. Participants will engage in practical exercises that will build their capacity in international donor applications as well as strengthening their project management abilities.
